  • I can produce a piece of work that I am proud to explain and show to other people who should be informed.

Curriculum Links:

  • Communicate scientific ideas and information for a particular purpose, including constructing evidence- based arguments and using appropriate scientific language, conventions and representations (VCSIS140).

  • Challenge previously held assumptions and create new links, proposals and artefacts by investigating ideas that provoke shifts in perspective, and cross boundaries to generate ideas and solutions (VCCCTQ045)

  • Plan, produce and distribute media artworks for a range of community, institutional contexts and different audiences, and consider social, ethical and regulatory issues (VCAMAP044).

Background Information:

The purpose of the concluding lesson is to allow students to display their understanding of what they have learnt and for teachers to understand/ assess the effectiveness of the lessons.

Although this concluding activity could have been made into a summative test and knowledge check, we thought it was important to give students the opportunity to be creative in presenting learned information. Alternatively you can have class discussions, a summative test or another form of closing activity to summarise the activities

The poster task can be altered into any form of presentation as well as including but is not limited to PowerPoint presentation, oral presentations, blogs, social media pages and videos depending on teacher preference. The task can also be formally assessed through the use of a rubric depending on the method of presentation.

Teachers can also choose to hold a mini convention so that students can present the information to a wider audience thus adding a presentation perspective or display the physical posters around the school to inform other students and teachers.

This is an open and flexible task for teacher and student interpretation and presentation.
